History of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport

This was established in 1936. It is notable as the oldest airport in Nigeria

  • It was formerly a Royal Air Force station before Independence, operating as an important fuel stop for airlines flying long-haul services between Europe and Africa

Built by FAAN in 1936. Rebuilt in 2013.

The oldest airport in Nigeria, this airport, named after the politician Mallam Aminu, is the main airport servicing the Northern Nigeria presently.
