Requirements for Germany Student Visa
- Two duly completed visa application forms
- An original national passport with a validity of at least 6 months.
- Two recently taken passport-sized photos that follow the passport requirements.
- Copies of previous passports.
- Proof of admission into a study program in Germany (either the University admission letter or other authentic documents of admission).
- Original certificates of your educational background. Academic records or transcripts are also necessary.
- Proof of financial sustenance for the duration of stay in Germany. This should cover your living cost, accommodation and study costs.
- A covered health insurance of ?30,000 with a validity of 3 months.
- A letter written by the traveler that shows the reason for choosing to gain a degree in the chosen study program.
- Proof of proficiency in the German language (for German-only language programs) and the English Language (for English and mixed-language study programs).
- For married intending students, a copy of your marriage certificate is to be submitted.

It is advised that you start looking for accommodation once your visa application has been granted as it is most times uncertain if the German university would provide you with one. Once you have found a place to live, you need to register at the ?residents? registration office? (Einwohnermeldeamt) or the ?citizens? bureau? (B?rgeramt). Once registered, you?ll receive a document confirming your registration at that address, which you can then use for the next step to getting your residence and study permit.
