Content Writing Challenge
Welcome to the second edition of the Hotels.ng Writing Challenge. The maiden edition was the memorable Haunted Hotel Writing Challenge.
For years, hotels.ng has set out to promote creativity and support brilliance. With this in mind, we have decided to make the Content Writing Challenge a yearly competition to discover and reward excellent writers that could be famous authors in this country.
If you are a fictional writer with an interest in telling the Nigerian story(as it relates to hotels) then this is for you.
Hotels.ng is an online hotel booking platform that lists every hotel in Nigeria and makes it possible for anyone to book these hotels online. We provide ease to our users as they can discover hotels in new city, compare prices, read reviews, view pictures, see the hotels availability, and secure their reservation online before your arrival for easy check in.
How to enter
We have curated a list of and we would like to appreciate their service quality through this writing challenge.
To enter, you will write a 200 – 500 word positive fictional story about an everyday activity that can happen at any of this .
Title of post
The title of your post should include the name of the hotel you are writing about.
Body of post
Your story should center on a positive experience. It should not lean towards a review of the hotel, but instead it should focus on a story around the hotel. Example: I booked The George hotel on Hotels.ng and I liked it, “A night with my friends at Federal Palace hotel,“ “My bridal shower at Radisson Blu Ikeja,“ “My father likes Shoregate and I just found out why,“ et al.
When you mention the hotel or the city it is located in, reference its page on hotels.ng so that readers can see more details about the hotel.
All submissions are done online, submit the url of the page where you published the story through this .
How to submit
Post your story online. You can post it on your blog, a friend’s blog, an online publication like punch.com, nigeriabulletin, bellanaija.com, guardian.com, et al. Or an online forum like reddit.com, nairaland, et al.
Participants that follow all the rules and get published by an authoritative online publication might score extra points. So getting published in a publication like Punch will get you more points than posting on nairaland.
Lastly, do not write your story on any social media network. Example: Facebook, LinkedIn, or Medium.com. If you submit a story that was published on your social media page you will be disqualified.
The best writers will be offered a writing job at hotels.ng
Cash prize of 50,000 Naira for the overall best writer.
