South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa (RSA) is located at the end of the southern part of Africa with Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho and Zimbabwe surrounding it. The country, rich in mineral resources is blessed with 90 percent of Platinum metal and 41 percent of gold found in the world. South Africa is also a multi-faceted country, popularly called the world in one country. With a very rich culture and about 11 official languages, it is definitely a destination for tourism. Here are some places you must visit on your next South African tour:
Durban
Durban is the third-most populous city in South Africa and largest in the Kwazulu-natal province. It is one of the country's most beautiful places and top tourist destination. Durban has everything from parks to stadiums, botanical gardens and even casinos. It is home to the popular uShaka marine world. The best part of it is that Durban is highly affordable. There are also hotels around so you do not have to worry about where to stay during your tour.
Kruger National Park
Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in Africa and diverse species of animals can be found here. The park has lots of mountains and tropical forests so if you are a nature or animal lover, you should not travel to South Africa without adding a visit to this park to your schedule.
iSimangaliso Wetland Park
iSimangaliso Wetland Park is in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. It was previously known as the Greater St. Lucia Waterland Park and was later changed to iSimangaliso?meaning "a miracle" or "something wondrous". The park is made up of lakes, game, marine, nature reserves, and parks.
Cape Town
Cape Town ''mother city'' is the city that gave birth to civilization in South Africa. Quite a number of tourist attractions in South Africa are in Capetown. It is one of the very few cities ever that packages some of life's greatest things in one. The city gives tourists a taste of color, class, culture, exquisite cuisines and real fun.
Garden Route
If you are craving a break from the daily stress of life, Garden Route is the perfect go-to place for relaxation and meditation. It has the mildest climate in South Africa and the second mildest in the world. Garden Route is an amazing campsite, picnic area and is great for skydiving too. Drakensberg Mountain Range of KwaZulu-Natal is a world heritage site with over 600 types of San rock paintings in caves around the mountain. It is also known as Ukhahlamba-Drakensburg Park. One visit to this park is sure to leave you overwhelmed, however, tourists tend to get more out of their visit here when they stay for more than a day.
Addo Elephant Park
Addo Elephant Park is an extensive wildlife conservation area found in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Ever heard of the big 5? If you haven't, the big 5 is a group made up of the Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard. Asides from the big 5, Addo Elephant Park also has 22 species of Carnivore including the Cheetah and Hyena. This place will definitely leave you with a thrilling experience.
Table Mountain
Table mountain, like the name implies, is a flat-topped mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. It is another famous tourist destination with most people getting to the top of the mountain through hiking or cableway. There are about 2,200 species of plants found on Table Mountain and 1470 floral species. The mountain is a great spot for photography and the world just looks better from its top.
Blyde River Canyon
Motlatse Canyon (Blyde River Canyon) is located in Mpumalanga forming the northern part of the Drakensberg escarpment. The canyon is the world's largest green canyon and the third largest canyon. Blyde river canyon offers loads of activities such as hiking, hot-air ballooning, boat rides and even fishing.
Johannesburg
Johannesburg popularly called Jo'burg or Josi by South African natives is the largest city in South Africa. It is known to be the city in which gold was discovered, earning it the name eGoli(city of gold). Just like the rest of South Africa, Johannesburg is breathtakingly beautiful, especially at night. The city, filled with diverse cultures and lifestyles is home to the tallest skyscraper in Africa. A visit to South Africa is not complete without a tour of Jo'burg.
