Hotelsng raises $1.2million from Omiydar network and EchoVC

Hotels.ng has been funded by the Omidyar network, an investment firm owned by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, and EchoVC growth venture capital firm.   In a statement to the press, Mark Essien C.E.O of hotels.ng says the funding will allow the company expand its hotel listings and services into Ghana and other parts of Africa. “Our mission was to ‘build local’ as a springboard for international expansion and this has resulted in really encouraging traffic and conversion figures so far” he added   Spark.ng in 2013 invested $225,000 in the company as a seed fund, with this funding, the company already has an inventory of over 7,000+ hotels across Nigeria and has made close to two million hotel reservations for customers since its commencement.
