Calabar Airport is a federal government-owned airport serving Calabar in Cross River State. In order to honour the contributions of the late patriot and women right activist, Magaret Ekpo, it was renamed as Margaret Ekpo International Airport. It was commissioned in 1983 under the then administration of former president Alhaji Shehu Shagariby. In 2009, Calabar Airport recorded passenger traffic of 316,736 however, the numbers dropped to 189,908 in 2015. Currently, commercial and private flight operations are on-going by the airport.
