Top Ten 2019 Nigerian Movies

Over the years, Nollywood movies have evolved (Nigerian entertainment industry is called Nollywood). Nigerian movies are getting better and are even getting featured in cinemas and Hollywood entertainment industry tends to feature Nigerian actresses from time to time.

In 2019 alone, a lot of Nigerian movies were produced. Here are the top ten 2019 Nigerian movies:

1. Lionheart

The Lionheart movie was produced by Chinny Onwugbenu and directed by Genevieve Nnaji. The film was released worldwide on the 4th of January 2019 on Netflix. Lionheart was selected as the Nigerian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. It was the first time that Nigeria had submitted a film for the Best International Feature Film Oscar.

The movie is about a woman looking to prove her worth as she steps up to the challenge of working with her crude and eccentric brother when her father, Chief Ernest Obiagu is forced to take a step back due to health issues.

2. King Of Boys

King of boys is a Nigerian political thriller movie written and directed by Kemi Adetiba. The movie is about a businesswoman and philanthropist with a checkered past, drawn into a power struggle that threatens everything she holds dear.

3. The Bling Lagosians

The Bling Lagosians is a 2019 Nigerian drama movie, written by Anthony Kehinde Joseph and directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters. The movie is about the Holloways, a wealthy Lagos family and their mother Mopelola who is about to celebrate her 51st birthday party. There are also individual feuds between family members.

4. Elevator Baby

Elevator Baby is a movie about Dare (Timini Egbuson), a privileged young man with a serious anger issues, who got stuck in a faulty elevator with a semi-literate pregnant woman in labor (Toyin Abraham). Dare has no choice than to try and save both mother and child.

5. The Enemy I Know

The Enemy I Know is about a billionaire- Anthony Adewale who dies under suspicious circumstances and every member of his family scramble for his wealth!

6. Living in Bondage: Breaking Free

The movie is about the son of Andy Okeke, Nnamdi Okeke from Living In Bondage 1. He is an ambitious young man who wants more out of life but he can't afford the kind of life he wants with his current income. An encounter with Chief Ibaka, a family friend with a notoriously dark past opens the door to all he has dreamt. But it all comes at a great price that will change his life forever.

7. Mokalik

Mokalik is about an eleven-year-old named Ponmile. His life changes when he is sent to work as an apprentice at a mechanic workshop far from his home in the suburbs and he must make a tough decision about his future.

8. Kasanova

The movie Kasanova is about a man named Femi- a widower with a son (Jason). He finds it difficult to get over his late wife and so in a bid to move on, he indulges in several uncommitted relationships. Then he falls in love with Jessica, a single mom who is preoccupied with her musical career and is impatient with her daughter, Ini.

9. The Call

The Call is about a guy- Woli Arole who tries to find a fast means of making
money in order to have a birthday celebration. He then receives an unexpected call that then leads him down the path he was destined to tow.

10. Nimbe

Nimbe is a movie directed by Tope Alake. Nimbe is a story addressing the issues associated with drug abuse, some of the causes, how to identify and avoid such.
