ILE-IFE, OSUN – The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has been closed down indefinitely, following prolonged protests by students. The students were protesting over alleged poor and deplorable living conditions in their halls of residence.

Workers and students alike were stranded during the period of the protests which resulted in heavy traffic at the university’s main gate.

However, according to a report from The Nation, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, refuted the claim that the institution had been shut down, insisting that the authorities only gave the students a mid-semester break.
