With so many Nigerian restaurants already established in the capital city, and more spots popping up every other month, a business that wishes to thrive must do what it can to stand out from the crowd. Some choose to make themselves exceptional through their pricing, and others choose style. Nkoyo is one of the latter.

At Nkoyo, they don’t just sell food and beverages, they sell experience. For 5 years, the restaurant has done all it can to create a different experience for its customers by making and serving very African, very traditional Nigerian food  in an environment that feels both very exotic and very much like home. The restaurant’s theme is quite rustic with bamboo room dividers, wood panel floors, polished wood furniture with African fabric cushion and table covers, and accents which showcase a bit of Nigeria’s culture. Windows are covered with wooden blinds, only letting a little bit of exterior light in and creating a sort of exclusive feel for customers.

Nkoyo has stayed ahead of the Nigerian food game in Abuja by putting customer satisfaction first – this means regular customer surveys, and spontaneous customer satisfaction check. The staff are both well trained and very efficient, so you won’t have to worry about attitude from waiters or irritating behavior. Of course, a large part of customer satisfaction at a restaurant is the meal itself and Nkoyo definitely delivers. Food is made as if they are home-cooked by a person from the soup’s origin state, and they take much pride in actually pounding the yam as soon as it is ordered, not serving yam flour. The portions are quite large and extremely rich in taste so you’ll be getting value for for your money.

Some may say their prices are a bit steep compared to other restaurants, but the truth is regular soups and swallows, pounded yam and banga soup and chicken for example, will cost you only slightly more than at some other restaurants. For five years, their prices haven’t changed much, except menu items containing ingredients that get a bit costly in the market like snails, and they’ve managed to maintain a bit of consistency in that regard.

In summary, Nkoyo’s menu is quite interesting and flavourful, the staff is accommodating, and you will love the atmosphere. It’s a great place to go to give yourself a little treat just because you deserve it. –   Visit either the branch at K-City Plaza, Wuse 2 or Ceddi Plaza, Central Business District – 07059530000
