NCC Set to Regulate Unsolicited Texts by Network Providers

ABAKALIKI – The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) yesterday said it is taking steps to come up with a regulation that will deal with unsolicited text messages and illegal data charges by network operators in the country.

The Commission’s Executive Vice Chairman, Prof. Umar Dambatta – represented by Mr Austin Chucks Odoh, a Director in the Commisssion, stated this in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State during the 1st Ebonyi Youth Summit on refocusing talented youth for sustainable national development in training and capacity building through ICT revolution.

“The commission is taking steps to develop a regulation that will deal with unsolicited text messages and illegal data charges,” he said.

Mr Dambatta urged mobile subscribers not to hesitate in lodging their complaints by taking advantage of the toll-free number provided by the commission.
