A Complete Tourist Guide to Obudu Cattle Ranch

Once upon an era, Obudu Mountain Resort was called Obudu Cattle Ranch. It is a ranch that is located in Obanliku that is close to the Nigeria/Cameroon border. It was African Sun Limited, the management that renamed it. In 1951, a Scottish called Mr. McCaughley , Mr. Hugh Jones and Dr Crawfeild developed this mountain. Seven villages Ukwamu, Okpayanga, Kejukwu, Anape, Kigol ,Abayiule and Keyi surround this mountain. It is often referred to as ‘heaven on earth’ because of the experience that the people are offered here.

The Mountain Race

Every year, cyclists travel from another world for the ‘World’s Richest Mountain Race’ that is held in this Obudu Mountain Resort. This Obudu Ranch International Mountain Race is held during the festive period or late November and covers 11.25 km.

The Scene/Landmarks

Obudu Cattle Ranch has dense trees and mountainous terrains that you can hike. The shape of this landmark is snake like which is amazing from the top. The different landmarks are strategically located to give tourists a run for their time and money spent coming here. The first thing that welcomes you here is the Cow Head that is at the entrance which is a symbolic representation of the cattle here.

Coming to the Ranch

When you get to Obudu Town, coming to the ranch is barely 30 minutes. However, you can cut this distance when you take a charter air service that is found at the Bebi Airport that is between the resort and Obudu. When you arrival here, there is a grand reception that would usher you into your room.
