52 - Entry of Dele Akinkunde

'Hi Dele'.
'Hi Samantha, it's a little earlier than I thought. After all these years and our glorious feats, the science of human demise still lacks the ability to accurately predict the reapers call'.
'Dele, you know we don't have a lot of time, you shouldn't recall the past at this point. All predictions say it is not logical'
'I understand Samantha. Does my insurance cover incidents involving 'room 101c'
'Yes dele, it says 'allocated amount to Nene'. Do you want that changed?
'No it's fine. Begin entry Samantha. Irony of life, always thought it was the smoking to get me'.
'Entry started, thank you for using GTinsurance(gti)'.
Name: Dele Akikunde
Could I have been the cause of this? My mom always told me my love for the pretty ladies would be the death of me but this sure is ridiculous. I wonder if the pain I’m feeling is close to what Nene felt that day. After everything that has happened, I still love her you see, it is important you know that.
It sure sucks ending this way, just another victim of room 101c. Irony of life, I never believed anything on that news network but I am probably going to be a headline on Superstitious Nigerian News.
It all started when Nene and I decided to take a train from Kaduna to Abuja. The 5th year anniversary of our marriage was coming up and I wanted to spoil my wife silly. I had it all planned out, a nice resort with a horse race track, the famous man-made lake for some swimming and a whole lot of smile worthy things . Nene has a great smile you see, she's just the perfect shade of dark, eyes that could light up the world and legs that could make any man bow for a closer look.
SNN interrupted the regular show on the train for a breaking news cycle about a man claimed to have visited room 101c. He apparently shot himself after a couple of days, interestingly, SNN showed a picture of him partying in Lagos and Sokoto the same night. That isn’t possible I thought at the time. Amazing how ignorant I was. ‘Your vitals are low dele; you have to finish the entry before you expire’ ‘Didn’t think we would talk again Samantha’ ‘Readings from the chip indicate you have 20 minutes to live’ ‘Samantha, do you sometimes wish you were human?’ ‘no, Dele, I have been a part of too many entries. I am content being an Artificial Intelligence’

Seems my time is limited. I can’t feel my legs or arm anymore, being stabbed sure sucks. Where was I? Ah yes!.
We finally got to the resort after a smooth but tiring trip. I couldn’t wait to get in bed; maybe Nene would give me a massage I thought to myself as I approached the reception. We got to the reception and made enquiries about our reservation, everything was in order but Nene became agitated when she found out room 101c was our designation. She huffed and puffed but I reminded her that no case had been reported in Abuja. That seemed to calm her down a bit, how wrong I was.
We got into the elevator and ascended to paradise. I couldn’t wait to get in and have some quality time with her. Don’t know if it was the enclosed space but I definitely had evil on my mind, I held her close while stroking her hair ever so gently, she smiled.
Walking down the hallway to room 101c was strange now I think about it. Ever had that feeling you was being watched?, well I had that feeling multiplied by a thousand eyes. I placed my key card on the knob and the door swung open to reveal the most decorated room I had ever seen. It was filled with ornaments I had never seen before and an eerie painting which seemed to be a replication of the room.
As we stepped into the room, I heard the door slam behind us and disappear before my eyes. It was just a wall now. In the midst of my surprise trying to figure out what just happened, I looked to my left; Nene was looking at the painting in a dumbstruck fashion. I was about to shout at her when I noticed what she was looking at. The painting had changed, it now had 2 people in it and they looked like us!
‘Welcome to the room of revelations’ I heard a coarse baritone voice say, reminds me of that famous singer known as Barry white now I think about it. I was frozen where I stood, I gazed at Nene and she had that face. The face of expectation, I have been married long enough to know all her faces and this face didn’t match the situation. ‘Welcome back Nene, you look different’ the voice continued, I summoned up some courage and stammered my way through a talk with the voice. It explained to me the origin of the room, and how everyone drawn into room 101c was chosen for a reason. I also learnt the different locations of the hotel represent different key points in an individual’s life ‘Readings from the chip indicate you have 10 minutes to live dele’ ‘I’m almost done Samantha; I want my entry to shed light on room 101c. There is a lot we don’t know. I wonder Samantha, is our conversation going to be in the entry?.’ ‘Yes Dele, I may be a voice in your head but an entry records everything, including our conversations for insurance purposes’. ‘The room of revelations chooses Nene as the first participant’ it continued. Nene looked too calm, it was unsettling. I didn’t think much of it at the time, just assumed it was part of her religious upbringing. Maybe she doesn’t believe in the superstitious I thought. The room glowed for a bit with a weird chant which sounded foreign yet Nigerian at the same time. The door appeared behind us and silence stood still. I opened the door stepped out and had a conversation with a stranger in the hallway who made me aware I was currently in Lagos. I was about to run out the hotel when I noticed Nene was not by my side. I dashed into the room one more time to bring her out. She was nowhere to be found, the room had changed, I was in a room but it looked like the room of a teen girl. A girl lay coiled up on the bed talking on the phone, a girl who strangely looked familiar, it seems she can’t see me I thought. I listened in on her phone call and I watched as this chubby little lady rolled around smiling and talking on the phone. She was clearly in love with whoever she was talking to. She dropped the phone and dashed into the bathroom getting ready for her male visitor. I was tempted to go peak but did not, she just wasn’t my type I guess. Was I to watch this young couple copulate right in front of me? Next level kinky shit I thought. I hear a knock on the door and move to the side waiting to see who could make a lady leap for joy this way. Imagine my surprise when the door opens and it’s me at the door.
At that moment I recalled the events of that night, can’t believe I forgot about this moment in my life. Why am I seeing this I thought, maybe this is my revelation I murmured trying to make sense out of what I was seeing. I watched the room glow and the familiar chant start, not again I thought as I watch every item in the room disappear and get replaced with new furniture. I was in a different room, but it had the feeling of room 101c, just different ornaments.
I waited a while but nothing seemed to be happening, I opened the door which seemed to have changed places. Strange door I thought, it opened just enough for me to peep out. Luckily I saw a hotel personnel who explained to me I was not in Lagos but in Sokoto. Sokoto I screamed, I turned around only to see the chubby lady of earlier.
She sure did let herself go, flaps of fat protruding from her tight gown, hair so wild and unkempt, if we still had mental patients, she would definitely pass for one. I heard the voice again ‘The price of beauty is blood’ echoed through the room as I watched this lady nod and undress. ‘Come forth love’ the voice said in a sinister manner, evil was in the air I could feel it in my spine.
From thin air stepped forth the oddest creature I ever did see. A half black-red transparent heart shaped man with scalpels for arms. It looked around and inquired who its patient was, chuckling while talking; it approached the chubby lady who at this point was shaking like a leaf.
I watched as it materialised an object which served as a table and the lady placed on it which made her go limp. ‘Enjoy the screams’ love said looking straight at me. At that moment it took a huge chunk of fat from her arms and stabbed his scalpel through it. Oh god, how she screamed and screamed, never had I heard the voice of anyone go that high. As he cut of each layer of fat he chuckled, she screamed, I winced and the voice laughed.
I honestly don’t know how long we stayed there, for the room was devoid of clocks and the sun never seemed to rise. At this point she could scream no more, the tears had dried up and I could wince no more. The table started to glow, and the familiar chant which had been a key part of my journey started. The once chubby lady covered in blood and devoid of skin bounced from the table and began to dance in the most possessive form I ever did see. She whined and jumped to the beat of the chant as love began to whisper a chant of his. The lady devoid of skin began to grow the most beautiful shade of black I had seen just like Nene’s. I watched as this half skinned figured bounced around whining and gyrating to the beat of the chant.
A once gruesome scene had been transformed to a fully skinned nude lady gyrating and jumping to the beat of the chant yelling at intervals like she had been possessed. I walked closer as I could notice the similarities between this beautiful lady and Nene. They both had just the right amount of boobs for a handful which danced with the body ignoring the beat of the chant and an ass that rippled away to the beat of the chant.
She opened her eyes and gosh where they the brightest just like Nene’s. I was beside her when she was finally able to speak, the first words that came out from this maidens mouth were ‘let me see’. Love stepped forward as he took the shape of the lady, she moved around love, feeling each breast and rubbing each butt cheek. ‘Do you like my creation Nene?’ love asked
‘Readings from the chip indicate you have 4 minutes to live Dele, gti will not pay if entry is not completed’ ‘I wish I had more time Samantha, I want my death to mean something’. ‘Finish your entry Dele, your death can mean something if Nene gets the money’ ‘What would you do if you were in my shoes Samantha?’ ‘I cannot answer that right now dele, I can only record entries at this point, you have to end your entry for me to analyse situation’ ‘I really don’t wanna die Samantha’ ‘I know dele,I know’ I was transported to a 3rd room only to be met with Nene holding an object which had a sharp end. It looked really menacing to say the least. The voice boomed and echoed at the same time saying ‘welcome to the last room of revelation called Warri. You are at the 3rd critical point in Nene’s life. It will reveal your true selves’.
Nene walked towards me as I apologised for what I had done and what I made her do. I was never one to see inner beauty only infatuated with physical attractions, if only I had looked past her looks that night in her room. Maybe all this wouldn’t have happened. She just wasn’t my type.
Irony of life, I marry the girl who I rejected because of her looks. As she stabbed me all I could hear was ‘I just wanted to be your type.’
